Hidden microphones and other surveillance equipment have been found in the Swedish Embassy in Moscow 14 years after they were planted, the Foreign Ministry in Stockholm reported. The ministry said the equipment was discovered during reconstruction work at the compound last week. It is believed to have been installed when the mission was built in 1972 by Soviet laborers working under Swedish guidance. “The unpermitted installations could not have taken place without the knowledge of Soviet authorities,” the ministry said in a statement. Swedish Prime Minister Ingvar Carlsson described the Soviet behavior as intolerable.
