Muslim rebels fighting the Afghan government have received the first shipment of U.S. anti-aircraft Stinger missiles that could tip the balance of the war against Kabul, the Sunday Telegraph of London reported. It said U.S. military experts are training rebels to use the shoulder-fired missiles in a secret camp near Islamabad, in Pakistan. A Sunday Telegraph correspondent said he saw the missiles in the hands of Islamic Party guerrillas in the eastern Afghan province of Nangarhar. He said the guerrillas used the missiles last month to shoot down three Soviet helicopters and a jet fighter.
