This East African nation lifted a ban Sunday on air and sea travel to South Yemen imposed 11 weeks ago after South Yemen intercepted a Djibouti airliner, a Foreign Ministry statement said.

The decision follows a visit to Djibouti a week ago by South Yemeni Communications Minister Saleh Abdullah Muthanna, who gave President Hassan Gouled Aptidon of Djibouti a message from South Yemeni President Haider abu Bakr Attas.

Two South Yemeni MIGs forced the Djibouti airliner to land at Aden airport Aug. 17, apparently to search for exiled supporters of former South Yemeni President Ali Nasser Hasani, who lost power in a coup last January.
