JAPANESE MAYOR TO DEDICATE BREA GIFT

Mayor Ichikawa of Hanno, Japan will dedicate a Kasuga lantern which his city has presented to the City of Brea at 10 a.m. Monday at Fire Station No. 3, Kraemer and Lambert roads, Brea.

Kasuga lanterns are made of stone and used in temples and shrines as a symbol of gratitude or prayer. They can also be used in gardens for ornamentation. The gift to Brea is a lantern approximately 11 feet tall and weighing more than three tons. Brea is a sister city of Hanno.
