Letters : A Memory Flogger

Share

I’ve read lots of things in the Times that I enjoyed, but nothing that I liked well enough to write the author to say, “Well done.” I thoroughly enjoyed “Putting Lid on Collection Box Mystery” (by Paul Dean, Nov. 1). Ancient varnish congealed to yellow-orange really is a memory flogger. I’ll buy the box from him for $3.50, and I vow it’ll never see the inside of a sushi bar--I hate fish.

Now with that offer, Paul Dean, you have the first corollary to your “only bozos pay the sticker price on antiques” law. The corollary: You never get back what you invest in antiques.
