MAI Basic Four Inc., the Tustin-based business computer manufacturer, said it has formed a computer maintenance organization to provide third-party maintenance service for computer users in Western Europe.

TekServ, which is set to begin operating on Jan. 1, will have its headquarters in Brussels, Belgium, and will serve Western European customers through 55 MAI branch offices in Austria, France, Luxembourg, West Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.

A spokesman said that the new organization, which is owned by MAI and will operate out of the maintenance divisions of the branch offices, will allow the company to service computers made by other companies and will significantly increase MAI’s customer base. MAI is currently drawing $50 million in annual revenue from more than 10,000 customers in Western Europe, the spokesman said. He said the overall annual market for third-party maintenance in Europe is estimated at about $300 million.
