Surely Roraback’s last statement was bait to see how many Frost lovers would bite. Though Frost wrote of his New England heritage with insight and humor, he was born in San Francisco. He lived in San Francisco until his father died in 1885, and only then moved with his mother and sister to Massachusetts.

Read “Once by the Pacific” and “Once in a California Sierra.” We could wish he had written more about our state and recorded California’s idiosyncrasies for posterity.
