Santa Ana : Scoville Assigns Judges to Superior Court Duties

Judicial assignments for 1987 have been announced by Superior Court Judge Harmon G. Scoville, who will become presiding judge of the Orange County Superior Court in January.

Judge George Francis will continue to preside over conferences designed to settle cases before they go to trial. Judge Everett W. Dickey, outgoing presiding judge, has been assigned to general trial duties.

The other Scoville assignments, effective Jan. 5, were announced by Alan Slater, executive officer of the Superior Court.

Judge Jerrold S. Oliver will continue as supervising judge for the civil jury trial panel.

Judges assigned to criminal cases are James R. Franks II, Leonard H. McBride, John J. Ryan, William W. Thomson, John H. Smith Jr., Jean Rheinheimer, Phillip E. Cox, William F. McDonald, James J. Alfano and James O. Perez.

Myron S. Brown will supervise the Harbor Court criminal panel in Newport Beach; Luis A. Cardenas will supervise the West Court criminal panel in Westminster, and Kathleen O’Leary will supervise the North Court criminal panel in Fullerton.

Betty Lou Lamoreaux will continue as presiding judge of the Juvenile Court. Also sitting in Juvenile Court will be David O. Carter, plus Commissioners Gilbert N. Mueller, Gale P. Hickman, Julian Cimbaluk and Referee Betty Farrell.

James L. Smith has been assigned to Probate Court. Julee Robinson will continue to serve as commissioner.

Ronald E. Owen will be the supervising judge of the family law panel. Judges assigned to the family law panel are Ragnar R. Engebretsen, Jack K. Mandel, David H. Brickner, William F. Rylaarsdam and Commissioners Jane D. Myers and Frank Fasel.

Tully H. Seymour will be presiding judge of the law and motion panel where many pretrial matters are heard. Judge Gary L. Taylor is assigned to the law and motion panel, along with Commissioners Ronald L. Bauer, Eleanor Palk and Barbara Evans.

Linda H. McLaughlin will hear mental health trials and writs.

Assigned to hear civil trials are Robert A. Knox, James R. Ross, David G. Sills, Donald E. Smallwood, Samuel B. Taylor Jr., Philip E. Schwab, Henry T. Moore Jr., Richard N. Parslow Jr., John C. Woolley, John L. Flynn Jr. and Richard J. Beacom.

Judges assigned to general trial responsibilities are Leonard Goldstein, Robert J. Polis, Judith M. Ryan, Theodore E. Millard, LLoyd E. Blanpied Jr., Frank Domenichini, Richard W. Luesebrink, Robert R. Fitzgerald, Robert H. Green, Donald A. McCartin, James K. Turner, James A. Jackman, Francisco P. Briseno and Robert C. Todd.
