Martin Marietta Corp. unveiled a full-scale, functional model of a crew module for the U.S. space station that includes private quarters for each astronaut and a computerized helper named “George” that tells astronauts of any problems aboard the station. The computer system is a key part of the simulator displayed at the Marshall Space Flight Center in Hunstville, Ala., by the aerospace firm, one of a team of companies competing for the development contract for the crew module of the space station.
