Fifty of the 400 acres in the Rancho Santa Margarita Business Park have now been spoken for by seven companies which plan to build about 680,000 square feet of space.

The largest of the planned structures at the six-month-old Orange County project will be a $30-million, 300,000-square-foot structure to be occupied by Hughes Aircraft Co.’s Microelectronic Systems division. The structure will be built and owned by Los Angeles-based Ratkovich, Bowers & Perez.

Burroughs Corp. is building a 115,000-square-foot structure in the new business park, and Control Components Inc. is building a 75,000-square foot facility. Both companies plan to move into their projects in February.

The community’s first shopping center, a joint venture by Santa Margarita Co. and Santa Anita Development Corp., is expected to be completed by the end of next year or the first quarter of 1988.

The center will have about 110,000 square feet of space, and is expected to include a supermarket, gas station, restaurants, office space and a day-care center.

More than 930 new homes have been sold in the residential portion of the 5,000-acre development, and another 230 apartments have been rented.
