‘Tensions in the Church’
As a disenchanted Catholic, I find myself even more discouraged by the American bishops support of the medieval stance of the Vatican. The Catholic Church seems bent on returning to the Dark Ages.
Enlightened leaders such as Father Charles Curran are censored. Humanitarian leaders such as Bishop Hunthausen, emulating the actions of Christ in ministering to the “outcasts” of society, are stripped of their dignity and influence. What we are given in return is a tentative visit from a Pope who dwells upon the superiority of angels over men. With whom would Jesus be found today?
