Terrorist Acts Hurting Cause of Conservation
Although I am a committed hard-working conservationist and have been for many years, the terrorist acts of Sea Shepherd in Iceland make me very sad.
Why? That question is easy to answer.
For every such terrorist act, (whether anyone is injured or not has no bearing) it takes the rest of us conservationists years to convince scientists, politicians and commercial interests that we act and work for long-range reasonable changes--and are definitely not muddle-headed anarchist-types who, like children, can’t see beyond the moment of their own desires for immediate change (and publicity?)
If the public, with the help of the media, which give so much time and space to these terrorists, could be educated to understand the problems instead of applauding these actions, we might take real progress in augmenting the true good-for-everyone philosophy of conservation.
