A 25-year-old Marine surrendered to police Saturday and was booked on suspicion of shooting his former wife’s boyfriend, police said.
Sgt. Mike Shanahan said Hector Cruz, 31, a serviceman stationed at the El Toro Marine Corps Air Station, was booked into the county Jail on suspicion of murder after he surrendered at the Tustin police station at 7 a.m.
Shanahan said Kerry Farrish, 25, was arriving at his apartment at 11 p.m. Friday in the 14400 block of Red Hill Avenue when a man hiding in a carport shot him in the arm and the stomach with a semi-automatic handgun. The shooter then fled.
Farrish was in stable condition Saturday at Western Medical Center in Santa Ana. The name of Cruz’s estranged wife was not revealed.
