3 California Suburbs Rank Among Costliest

SAN FRANCISCO — California’s Belvedere, Ross and Bradbury rank among the nation’s 10 most expensive suburbs for single-family homes, according to a survey by a Chicago-based national residential brokerage group.
The survey released Friday by RELO-Inner City Relocation Service said homes in fourth-ranked Belvedere sell for an average of $615,000. In sixth-ranked Ross, homes sell for $525,000.
The group sampled 13,000 suburbs nationwide. The most expensive community is Saddle River, N.J., home of former President Richard M. Nixon, where homes cost an average of $727,000. Second is Alpine, N.J., where homes cost an average of $658,000. In third place is Ocean Front, Va., where houses sell for $650,000.
Other California cities in the top 15 spots are ninth-ranked Bradbury, where homes sell for $459,000, and 13th-ranked Blackhawk, an enclave of Contra Costa County where homes cost $410,000. Rancho Santa Fe tied for 15th place with Bird Neck, Va., where homes sell for $400,000.
