The federal government, which has printed all of the nation’s money at the Bureau of Engraving and Printing in Washington for 124 years, is adding a printing plant in Fort Worth, Tex., officials said Monday.

U.S. Treasurer Katherine D. Ortega announced the selection of the Texas city over 10 other finalists, saying the new plant will produce 25% of the nation’s new currency when it becomes operational in early 1989.
