Four people from the San Fernando Valley were selected as winners in the KABC “What a Library Means to Me” contest, in association with the Save-the-Books Campaign for the Los Angeles Central Library. Twenty-five winners were chosen from among 20,300 entrants. The recipients from this area were: Mary Lee Tiernan of Sunland; Jack Zafran, Chatsworth Library clerical assistant, Joshua Leach, a ninth-grader at Nobel Junior High School, and Cindy Holsey, an 11th-grader at James Monroe High School.

Kenneth A. Marinace, a Burbank resident, has been elected president of the Burbank Community Healthcare Foundation. Marinace, 42, has been an active member of the foundation’s board since 1983. He is the chief executive officer of Burbank-based Comprehensive Financial Services, a financial and planning consulting firm.
