Canada to Repair Canal Between Two Great Lakes

OTTAWA —
The Canadian government will spend $126 million over seven years to repair the vital Welland Canal linking lakes Ontario and Erie, an official said.
A lock wall collapsed in the fall of 1985, causing an 18-day shutdown of ship traffic on the 2,300-mile St. Lawrence Seaway.
