Reagan and the Unfolding Iran-Contra Deals

It is impossible to convey the disappointment and desolation among conservatives at the Iranian connection of President Reagan. If he had given covert support to the Pahlevi heir, it would have been understandable; but to offer arms to the minions of the Ayatollah Khomeini and to call them “moderate” is a contradiction in terms.

His news conference was painful to observe and the intellectual saliva of his inquisitors obscene. He made a mistake, should admit it and proceed with his mandate.

Ronald Reagan has already assured his place as one of the greatest Presidents in history, but this tawdry miscalculation and his failure to admit it as such is unworthy. He should know that the last really perfect leader was crucified.
