Three De Anza College basketball players were arrested for investigation of possession of cocaine, authorities in Cupertino, Calif., said.
A sheriff’s deputy stopped the car in which the three were riding about 1 a.m. for a possible traffic violation near the junior college’s campus in Cupertino, said Ernest Smedlund, Santa Clara County deputy sheriff. Cupertino is about 40 miles south of San Francisco.
The deputy spotted the butt of a pistol sticking out from the front seat, and during a search, uncovered two small plastic bags containing what appeared to be cocaine, said Smedlund.
The three were booked for investigation of possession of cocaine and of possession of cocaine for sale, Sheriff’s Lt. T.K. Davis said. He identified the three as Kelly Wesley, 21, Patrick Lewis, 20, and Leroy Wise, 20. Wise also was booked for investigation of possession of a concealed, loaded handgun, Davis said.
Wesley is a forward, and Lewis and Wise are guards.
