Memorial Services to Be Held for Rev. Karl J. Christ, Retired Pastor
Memorial services for the Rev. Karl J. Christ, pastor of the Tustin Presbyterian Church for 25 years, will be held at the church Sunday beginning at 3 p.m.
The Rev. Christ, 66, died of cancer last Sunday in Carlsbad, where he recently moved. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; four sons; one daughter; 13 grandchildren and nine brothers and sisters.
He was born in North Dakota on June 12, 1920. He graduated from Santa Ana High School in 1938, from Occidental College in Los Angeles in 1942 and from McCormick Seminary in Chicago in 1945. He was awarded a doctorate of divinity by Occidental in 1971.
The Rev. Christ served the congregation in Tustin from 1945 until 1970, when he moved to the San Gabriel Presbyterian Church. Between 1976 and 1984, he served as both pastor of the Presbyterian church and rector of the Episcopal church in Burns, Ore.
He retired in 1985 but spent that year serving pastorates in Invercargill, New Zealand.
