Proper Storage for Onions

Share

Onions have excellent keeping qualities if stored properly. Place them in a single layer in a cool, dark, dry, well-ventilated area. Do not store with potatoes--the onions will absorb the potato moisture and decay more quickly.

When cut, they should be placed in a plastic bag or tightly covered container and refrigerated. Chopped onions also may be frozen, ready to use as a seasoning in many favorite recipes.
