COMMON LEFT-HANDED EXPRESSIONS

A left-handed compliment--For example, “Hey, Louie, you sure look happy. But then again, overweight people always look happy.”

Being out in left field--It means a person is constantly confused, a bit loony or driving with one tire in the sand.

Two left feet--Another way of saying a person is so clumsy that he’s probably capable of sustaining serious injury during a round of miniature golf.

Lefty--Guys with this nickname are most usually portrayed in movies as very large and very ugly thugs, criminal types, guys who smoke a lot and have teeth so yellow that motorists slow down and prepare to stop when they approach them on the street.

The boss’s right-hand man--His top assistant. If your boss ever refers to you as his left -hand man, you probably don’t want to sign a long-term lease on your apartment or think of ways to spend your next raise.

Leftovers--Food that no one wanted to eat on Tuesday, but is served again on Wednesday or Thursday in hopes that it is not recognized.

Left out--When choosing teams for schoolyard sports, the very plump kid with black socks stuck down inside his sneakers is usually left out . He also probably eats leftovers .
