Markus Wasmeier of West Germany, benefiting from a disqualification of Pirmin Zurbriggen of Switzerland, won a World Cup super giant slalom at Val d’Isere, France.
Wasmeier’s time was 1 minute 40.56 seconds. Zurbriggen, the World Cup leader and Friday’s downhill winner, was timed in 1:39.13 from the first position. However, he was disqualified for missing a gate.
