RAMALLAH, Israeli-occupied West Bank — Israeli troops clashed with Palestinian protesters in the West Bank for a fifth straight day today, shooting and killing a 12-year-old boy and wounding five Arabs.
The violence quashed hopes that the end of public mourning for two Arab students killed by Israeli soldiers Thursday would stop Palestinian unrest on the Israeli-occupied West Bank. A 14-year-old was killed Friday when he threw rocks at a soldier.
An army spokesman said soldiers shot and killed a 12-year-old boy and wounded four Arabs after Palestinian protesters threw stones in the Balata refugee camp near Nablus. The boy, Mohammed Zeitoun Ramadan, was shot in the head, a hospital official said.
The army said a soldier shot and wounded a fifth Arab after stones were hurled at a bus in the village of Sin Jil.
