Protests were filed against Olympic and world champion Wolfgang Hoppe, who steered East Germany to victory in the two-man bobsled competition at Winterberg, West Germany, the first World Cup race this season.
The newly designed East Germany sled has rear runners fixed to separate mountings instead f a conventional single axle. The technical commission said the design appears to be illegal but postponed a final ruling because some members of the commission were not in Winterberg and allowed the East Germans to compete.
