The chief executive and two former employees of Delta Homes Inc., a now-defunct West Los Angeles firm that authorities charge was at the center of a massive home and apartment construction fraud scheme, pleaded not guilty to a variety of felony charges. Entering their pleas before Los Angeles Municipal Judge Glenette Blackwell were Joseph Polifroni, 47, of Marina del Rey, the firm’s chief executive; Anthony Escario, 48, of Irvine, former vice president and general manager, and Ciro Aramayo, 61, of Los Angeles, a former Delta salesman and notary. All posted $5,000 bonds and were ordered to appear for a preliminary hearing Feb. 13. State and local authorities charge that Delta defrauded hundreds of property owners out of more than $2 million by failing to live up to its sales claim that the firm could quickly construct low-cost homes and apartments.
