Baylor College of Medicine illegally kept Jews out of a program in which cardiovascular surgeons and operating room personnel at the Houston school are sent for three months to King Faisal Hospital in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the U.S. 5th Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans said in upholding a lower court ruling. The hospital is used by the Saudi royal family. The suit was filed in 1982 by two anesthesiologists who were told that, because they were Jewish, they would not be able to get visas for Saudi Arabia, the court said. There is no evidence in the record that the statement represented the Saudis’ position, the court said.
