Dissident Soviet poet Irina Ratushinskaya, released from prison in October after being sentenced in 1983 to seven years for anti-Soviet agitation, said she has been given permission to leave the country for medical care. In a telephone interview from her home in Kiev, Ratushinskaya, 32, said she and her husband, Igor Gerashchenko, have been given permission to travel to the West and will leave this week for Britain, where she will seek treatment for kidney and heart ailments. Ratushinskaya, considered by Western critics and Soviet emigre writers to be one of the Soviet Union’s most talented poets, said she has no plans to give up her citizenship.
