Laurie Graham of Canada won the women’s World Cup downhill at Val d’Isere, France.

Graham, 26, was timed in 1 minute 26.42 seconds, followed by Maria Walliser of Switzerland in 1:27.14. France’s Catherine Quittet finished third in 1:27.45.

North Americans took the next three places. Debbie Armstrong of Seattle, the 1984 Olympic giant slalom champion, was fourth in 1:27.60. Liisa Sarijarvi of Canada finished fifth in 1:27.74 and Tori Pillinger of Park City, Utah followed in 1:27.89.

Walliser moved into first place in the overall World Cup standings with 60 points. Two other Swiss, Erika Hess and Vreni Schneider, are second and third with 51 and 46 points, respectively.
