Unmarried couples living together in the United States number more than 2 million for the first time, the Census Bureau said. It counted 2.2 million unmarried-couple households this year, up from 1.9 million last year. Spokesman Steve Rawlings said in Washington that about 4.1% of all cohabitating couples in the nation are unwed and that the trend has been leveling off since 1980.
