Dutch Parliament Votes Aid for Gay Monument
The Dutch Parliament agreed Tuesday to donate $44,000 toward a pink marble monument being put up by homosexuals as a tribute to gays persecuted in Nazi concentration camps
Parliament approved an amendment to the Welfare, Public Health and Culture Ministry’s annual budget which should almost meet the 405,000 guilder ($180,000) total cost of the triangular symbol.
The Christian Democrats, senior partners in the center-right coalition of Prime Minister Ruud Lubbers, voted against the decision, along with smaller Christian parties.
