The wife of a reputed mobster and three members of his Irish gang were indicted in the killing of a loan shark in New York City. Manhattan Dist. Atty. Robert Morgenthau, in arguing the case against Julia Coonan and the three male defendants, said the gang has supplied “hired guns” to the Gambino crime family and has been responsible for 28 murders. Coonan, 44, is the wife of James Coonan, who is awaiting trial in another killing. She will be tried on a conspiracy charge in the death of Vincent Leone, 47, a functionary of International Longshoremen’s Assn. Local 1909.
