The World Court divided more than 1,000 square miles of disputed territory that drew the West African nations of Burkina Faso and Mali into a brief border war a year ago. A five-man special chamber of the court split the disputed area into roughly equal parts for each nation. “It is an extremely satisfying ruling for us,” said Abdulrahman Maiga, Mali’s minister of territorial administration. “We will strictly abide by it, and I think the dossier on this difference between our nations is now closed forever.” There was no immediate comment from Burkina Faso.
