Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who has missed the Lakers’ last two games because of an eye irritation, may play here tonight against the Sacramento Kings.

Abdul-Jabbar is suffering from a recurrent corneal erosion syndrome, which may have been brought on by the several times his cornea has been poked and scratched.

A team spokesman said an examination Monday by doctors at the Jules Stein Institute showed “significant improvement.” However, doctors advised Abdul-Jabbar to continue wearing the protective patch over his right eye. He will be examined again this morning, and he may be given the go-ahead to play.
