Paul E. Feiman has been elected president and chief operating officer of Palo Alto-based Syntex. Thomas L. Gutshall has been named executive vice president. Their appointments are effective Jan. 1. Feiman replaces Albert Bowers, chairman and chief executive, who has served in the additional role of president since the December, 1985, retirement of Richard G. Rogers.
