Carolers and holiday party-goers can look forward to lots of sunshine throughout the Christmas weekend, forecasters said.

A cold front that has dominated the week will bring in some clouds, but high pressures behind the front should usher in clear skies.

“It looks very pleasant for Christmas Day right on through the Christmas weekend,” said forecaster Wilbur Shigehara of the National Weather Service. “Long-range patterns suggest very seasonal conditions, which means lots of sunshine and only occasional clouds over San Diego.”

High tides are even higher now, at 3.6 feet, than the tides during the height of the 1983 storm that caused extensive coastal damage. But it is too early to tell if an unexpected storm will aggravate 7.8-foot high tides--a record for the decade--predicted for next week. However, Shigehara said long range charts show no rain into the New Year and no unusual weather during this period.

High temperatures at the beaches will range from 64 to 67 degrees, with nighttime lows between 45 and 52. Surf will be 3 to 6 feet, with occasional breakers at 8 feet. Boaters will find sea breezes of 10 and 16 m.p.h. The ocean temperature is 61.

Inland highs will range between 68 and 74 degrees, with nights nearing 35 to 45 degrees.

Some agricultural areas in North County can expect nighttime temperatures of 32 degrees or slightly above freezing level, but no frost advisory has been issued.
