The captain of a Lebanese cargo vessel and one of his crew were being held in Israel more than 10 days after their ship was intercepted off the southern port of Tyre, Lebanese police said. They said an Israeli gunboat diverted the Monte Roro, sailing from Italy with a cargo of cars, to an unidentified port in Israel, where crewmen were questioned. “After three days of investigations, they freed six sailors but detained the captain and another sailor,” said one source, who did now know where the ship is now or what motivated the Israeli action.
