14 Holiday Murders Recorded in Soweto

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa —
Fourteen people were murdered during the Christmas holiday period in Soweto, the huge black township outside Johannesburg, police reported Saturday.
A statement said that 19 rapes, two attempted murders and 12 muggings were also reported on Dec. 25 and 26 in the township.
