I’m furious over the decision of Roussel-UCLAF to eschew marketing approval for the chemical compound RU 486 in the United States because of anticipated strong objections of anti-abortion groups.

If Jerry Falwell and people of that ilk don’t approve of abortion, they don’t have to use the pill. American women do not need these arrogant fanatics to make their reproductive decisions for them. We are as capable morally and certainly intellectually as they. We have a right to have access to safer options without having to go to Europe! And to give in to a superstitious and noisy minority because their objections might be troublesome is a deprivation of the rights of the majority of American women who prefer to make personal decisions for ourselves.
