Plane Carrying Canceled Checks Crashes and Burns

MERRILLVILLE, Ind. —
A cargo plane carrying canceled checks struck power lines and crashed and burned in a northern Indiana field Tuesday, killing the pilot, authorities said. The pilot had reported engine trouble when flying near Lafayette, a state police spokesman said.
