Woman Has New Year’s Gift: Baby on Doorstep

PHILADELPHIA — Eloise Smoot opened her door on New Year’s Day and found a day-old girl and a note saying, “Please take care of her,” on the step. The baby was reported in fair condition Friday at St. Christopher’s Hospital.
