BANNED VIDEO OF THE MONTH: Wang Chung’s video of the group’s hit, “Everybody Have Fun Tonight,” has been an MTV staple for the past couple of months. But you won’t see the inventive clip on the BBC this year. What’s wrong with a video that doesn’t have any sex or violence? According to a BBC spokesman, the BBC refused to air the Godley & Creme-directed clip because it has “too many frames per second,” which gives the clip a bizarre strobe-like effect. A medical expert retained by the BBC’s screening committee claimed that the video’s split-second editing technique could possibly trigger “epileptic fits” in viewers. What say Wang Chung? “It’s absolutely ludicrous,” complained band co-leader Nick Feldman. “I mean, they told Mozart his music had too many notes, and look what it did for his career.”
