A 20-ton truck thought by nuclear activists to be carrying atomic weapons skidded off an icy country road and overturned near Salisbury, England, prompting an 18-hour security alert, authorities said. The Defense Ministry refused to comment on speculation that the truck was carrying nuclear depth charges for use against submarines but said there was no danger to the public. The area was sealed off, and a crane lifted the truck back onto the road. It was towed away in a military convoy as protesters shouted, “Nuclear terrorists!”
