EDS acquired a French computer-services firm.
Dallas-based Electronic Data Systems Inc. has purchased Societe pour L’Informatique from Pechiney, the world’s fourth-largest aluminum producer. As part of the deal, Pechiney will become a customer of the General Motors Corp. subsidiary, an EDS spokesman said. EDS also announced that it and Bank One of Columbus, Ohio, are being joined by Norwest Corp. of Minneapolis in forming a retail bank processing system for use by large financial institutions involved in interstate banking.
