GLITCH KEEPS KING TRIBUTE OFF AIR
Due to circumstances beyond his control, President Reagan’s televised tribute Thursday to Martin Luther King Jr., which was to have aired live to high schools around the country, never showed.
A technical problem at the Public Broadcasting Service satellite transmission point in northern Virginia kept Reagan off the air and dashed plans at an unknown number of high schools that were to tune in his 10-minute message.
A PBS spokeswoman said the problem was corrected and the Reagan address, then on videotape, was to be sent three times to participating stations for later broadcast.
