Stars & Stripes, with dennis Conner in command, took a 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven America’s Cup challenger finals off Freemantle, Australia, today by sailing to a 3-minute 38-second victory over New Zealand’s Kiwi Magic, skippered by Chris Dickson.

Kookaburra III beat Australia IV by 1 minutes 56 seconds for a commanding 3-0 in the best-of-nine defender finals.
