Two environmental agreements were signed by Secretary of State George P. Shultz and Mexican Foreign Secretary Bernardo Sepulveda at the close of the sixth annual meeting of the Binational Commission in Washington. Shultz called the day of meetings “constructive and worthwhile” and said “there is a lot of good” but “a lot of room for improvement” in U.S.-Mexican relations. Sepulveda noted “tremendous steps forward” in recent months on a tuna fishing dispute and on environmental issues.
