Two Soviet military liaison officers were held for six hours after being caught photographing U.S. troop maneuvers in West Germany, an Army spokeswoman said. The 3rd Armored Division freed the two, a colonel and a warrant officer, after completing an investigation, Sgt. Elyane Venema said. The incident occurred in Alsfeld, about 50 miles northeast of Frankfurt, Venema said. She did not say if the Soviets’ film was confiscated, and the names of the officers were not disclosed.
