I’d like to make a few comments on John S. Bradford’s letter (Jan. 4) regarding MIA wife Anne Hart, who was the subject of a cover story last fall.

Anne Hart is a very patriotic “waiting wife” who has been a dear friend in our POW-MIA community for some years. The fact is that, on top of her frustration over government lies regarding her husband’s remains, she has had to endure insults and years of waiting. Yet she has selflessly volunteered to carry the POW-MIA cause across the country, at her own expense, in the interest of helping others. She is an amazing woman, and our hearts go out to her--and to all the other wives.

Anyone who has any doubts about her character may feel free to look into our backgrounds. I think you’ll find a fair number of fair, patriotic souls who will never give up. We believe, as President Reagan once said, that “a nation that forgets its heroes will itself be forgotten.”
