Hollywood Hailed

In the caption to the photo of Roscoe Arbuckle and me there are two falsifications, namely that “he died drunk and destitute.”

We had been on the road with our act for a year and a half, making $1,500 a week. Roscoe had made six shorts for Warner Bros. On his last day of the last short, Roscoe came home, showered and dressed, and we drove into New York from Long Island. We made arrangements for our old suite at the Park Central Hotel for the night, then went to a restaurant for dinner. About 11 p.m., Roscoe said he was tired, so we went to the hotel. He died a short time later from a heart attack, the second one he had had in two weeks.
